Mick Ives the man who raced non stop for 65 years

Mick Ives - "he’s won 81 British Cycling Championships in all disciplines and 19 World Championship medals, he’s the only male cyclist to represent Britain in all disciplines: road, track, cyclo-cross and mountain biking; and he held a racing license continuously from 1957 to 2019." thats a quote from the Velo Veritas interview with Mick a couple of years ago.

Mick has his own racing team called the Team Jewson MI Racing Polypipe McCann. There is also an associated club for non racers called Coventry Olympic Group Sportive. There is a LOT going on there so if you are from the Coventry Area have a look at the website...

The Club recently held their annual Dinner and Prize repesentation. With a forthcoming donation to the Rayner Foundation in the offing Bernard Burns, long standing Committtee Member of the RF hotfooted it down to Coventry to partake in the festivities. Not content with receiving the Cheque for £400 on the spot Bernard persuaded Mick himself to come to The Rayner Foundation Dinner the following evening in Leeds.

We were able to welcome Mick and thank him for the support his Team and Club have given to our young cyclists.

The cheque is handed over - Bernard Burns, Paul Cutler (Treasurer) Mick Ives, Keith Lambert and Jonny Clay
